Keeping an Open Mind in a Tough Job Market

Upon completing my Master’s last spring, I mentally prepared myself for the job search that was to begin at the end of the summer. While I was and am excited about putting my new skills to work, I also had a sense of dread about re-entering corporate America.  The recession here in So. Cal has helped take care of that for now with jobs few and far between.  So, I decided to look beyond my niche in which I was searching and expand my horizons. In that expansion, I embarked upon a “work at home” business, which I was nervous to even share with my husband the first few weeks.  While I was immediately intrigued by this well-established company and the products and potential it offered, I did not want the "home business" stigma nor did I want to hear the irritated groan from my husband that I was wasting my time with something that was going to go nowhere.

After a few weeks of intense study of the products, business plan, and compensation plan, I was energized and fully equipped for my meeting with my husband for “the reveal”.  Amazingly, my hard work studying and becoming more confident and comfortable with this paid off and he was sold and supportive. Since then, I have been dedicating serious energy and effort to this business, using my techniques to get myself back on track when I feel discouraged or question myself. I am reaching my goals, increasing my check each month and enjoying what I am doing (working hard too!)  My goal is to reach Senior Director within the next 10 months, making $55,000 plus $400 car bonus.  This is completely realistic with hard and steady work.

My background is in Training and Performance Improvement and I am applying these skills in my personal business with my new enrollees as they build their businesses. I would love to help anyone out there who is interested in joining a growing, professional team working with an established wellness company.
