Is there anyone out there that has used the Museum Adventure Pass from their local library?

I'm wondering if anyone has used the Museum Adventure Pass within the past year, and if so, where did you go, what did you do, and how did you and your kids like your adventure?  Inquiring minds want to know!

We've used most of them over the past two years - DIA, Cranbrook Science Center, Arts & Scraps, the Ford House in Grosse Pointe, Charles H. Wright Museum, Childrens Museum,

Yep, used them also.  My kids LOVE the DIA!  They have a wonderful Art teacher and she has inspired them to appreciate art and learn as much as they can.  My kids can spend the whole day there.  Of course we do the cafeteria (which has awesome food!).  Cannot beat free!!!  Even if you only spend a little time at one of these places, they'll learn to love museums and appreciate it in the future.

We went on the Rouge Factory tour and loved it.  It would have cost us $30 or $40 to go without the passes.  We plan on using some of the other passes, but it'll have to wait until the kids get a break from school.

I forgot about the Detroit Historical Museum - we've used that one a few times too.  It is one of my favorite museums.

Oh and the U of M Natural History Museum  which was odd though because there wasn't a fee to get in!

Thanks for your responses fellow mommies!  I have used the Museum Adventure Pass at the now closed Children's Museum, which my then 2, 4 and 10 year old boys really liked.  Another hidden gem is the Howell Nature Center.  A bit of a drive, but well worth it for their programming and for the Heifer Global Village, whih teaches kids about world hunger, poverty, and population issues.

Do you all use the pass on a weekly basis, monthly or every now and then?  It is up for one more year of funding and then they must re-evaluate the program.  I personally love it, as I work for them, and use the pass with my kids and play dates as well!

Please keep posting your Museum Adventure Pass Experiences, and if you have pictures, then I can feature them in our monthly E-Newsletter.  If interested in receiving it, please send me your email addresses.  Thanks again!

One more thing, I'm thinking about taking my kids to try an Arts and Scraps family Saturday, What was the activity during your Museum Adventure Pass excursion?

I also used it to go to the Motown Historical Museum.  It was fantastic! (except for the parking)  I probably would not have been to this museum if it wasn't for the pass.  I'm really glad to have gone.

I use the pass frequently in the summer.  I am a teacher and am off during the summer so this is what is convenient for me. Although I have used it on occasion during the school year.

We went to Arts & Scraps last summer and you could pick a packaged project for no charge to bring home and do.  From what I understand from a worker there, their promotion has changed due to grant funding?

Just realized that although summer is more convenient for me, we go to the library weekly for the summer reading program.  I don't check a pass out every week, but we are at the library a lot.  During the school year we go in spurts.  The books are due every three weeks so that is our cycle unless I'm too busy to go and just drop the books off.  Then the cycle is off and we have a longer gap between visits.

I can only think of a few times that I made a specific trip to the library to get a pass, usually I'm at the library and decide to check one out.

Hi--I'm the director at Arts & Scraps.  This program has been so successful for us that we created a whole new area for it:  Scrap Junction, where adults and children play, learn and make stuff.  There are 6 interactive stations.  Your Museum Adventure Pass admits 4 free of charge.  Families wanted more to do than just shop, so we responded.  For more information, there's a page on our website that describes Scrap Junction:  http://www.artsandscraps.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=86&Itemid=97

Come see us!
